Here is something most visitors never find out: October is one of the best months of the year to get out on the water in Marbella. The summer crowds are gone, the sea is still warm from months of sunshine, and the light turns that deep golden colour photographers chase all year. If you are coming to the Costa del Sol this autumn, this is why a boat trip should be at the top of your list.

The weather, honestly

Marbella enjoys around 300 days of sunshine a year, and October delivers its fair share. Daytime temperatures usually sit between 22 and 25°C, and the sea holds at around 20 to 21 degrees, warmer than many northern European beaches in August. You can still swim, still sunbathe on deck, and you will want a light jacket only when the sun goes down.

A quieter, calmer sea

In August, the bays along the coast fill with boats. In October you often get an anchorage almost to yourself. Mornings tend to be calm and glassy, ideal if it is your first time on a boat or you are bringing children. And Puerto Banús itself is a pleasure in autumn: the same yachts and the same views, without the queues.

What to do on the water in October

  • A private coastal cruise past the Golden Mile and Puerto Banús, with time to swim and relax on board.
  • A sunset trip, now at a civilised hour: in October the sun sets before 8 pm, so you can watch it from the water and still make your dinner reservation.
  • Dolphin watching: this stretch of coast is one of the Mediterranean’s best areas for spotting dolphins. They are wild animals, so sightings can never be guaranteed, but autumn trips regularly meet them.
  • A morning of fishing: October is a good fishing month here, and our trips include all the gear and a skipper who knows the grounds.

Perfect for half-term and golf trips

Travelling with the family over the October half-term? A private boat trip is the one activity everyone from grandparents to toddlers actually agrees on. And if you are here for a golf week, an afternoon at sea is the ideal rest day: same sunshine, no scorecard.

How it works

Every trip is private, just for your group, and departs from Puerto Banús with a professional skipper. Fuel, soft drinks and snacks are included, and no sailing experience is needed. Trips run from 2 hours to a full day, across a fleet that goes from comfortable motorboats to a full yacht charter in Marbella. Want something extra? Ask us about on-board catering or a private chef.

October dates are easier to find than summer ones, but the best sunset slots still go first. Tell us what you have in mind and we will send you a no-obligation quote.
